"Age is such a blessing! You should be happy that you are able to age." - Smita S
Talking all things life, in this episode Smita S, an incredibly bubbly character joins me and we are literally talking about everything!
This conversation moves from surname changes after marriage, cultural baggage, how women treat each other, ageing and not ageing, moving countries, relationships and work.
Ultimately, Smita shares her reality of the pressures that she felt as the eldest child, dealing with the sudden loss of her father, dealing with grief and loss, how she was incredibly good at controlling her emotions, which now with hindsight she realises how damaging this was.
Smita shares her story of moving through different jobs until she realised she was unhappy at work and decided on a total career change.
A huge believer in 'being an advocate for yourself' Smita also explains what this means:
"You are the only person who knows who you are. Being an advocate for yourself is saying I want to be heard, I want to be listened and I want you to know how I am feeling."
